First off, a reminder that the palette and all existing tiles can be found here.
Here’s what we’ve talked about working on so far:
[Rework] Grass, Brush, Coastal tiles
[Replacement] Hill, Mountain (?)
I’ve uploaded a PNG with the existing tiles to discord. (I can’t trust that this platform won’t do weird resizing.) What I want for the hills is something a little less vibrant and easy to mistake for the grass tile. As for the mountain, let’s talk when you get to that one, but I’m kind of interested in seeing what things look like with a top-down view of mountains, like Ultima VI/VII tried.
[New] Tower
Here’s examples of other settlement tiles (you can find them in the main spritesheet):
[New] Pier (multiple tiles)
Here’s what I currently have for a “pier” in the map editor- this is just using wood floors extending out into the water.
What I have in mind for that is basically just at the edges, top down view of the big wooden poles that are supporting the pier itself.
[New] Crenellations (8 tiles)
In each of the 8 compass directions, basically.
[New] Lava tube floor
Here’s the cave floor (it’s a 2x2 for more interesting tiling purposes):
The Lava Tube Floor is as though there’s magma running underneath it. So that general look, but reddish hue and possibly 2-3 frames of subtle animation that’s just the color pulsing a bit.
[New] Glowing coral/rocks
Something whitish and glowing that sticks out over the water. The glow possibly animates slightly.
